Urban Zen

Donna Karan has finally taken a giant step in the direction she's been talking about for ages. Always a visionary and pioneer, she's constantly been discussing how the fashion industry has things backwards in their fashion cycle. Things for fall are shown on the runways in the spring - so when the autumn season actually arrives, all of the designers pieces for that season are already on sale. The collections are stale before the weather alters.
While this is a fabulous thing for most fashionista's on a budget, Donna says that the industry looses millions of dollars marketing like this in order to cater to the major magazines and other publications.
As a result, it was wonderful to see Donna take the first steps toward changing this. She recently showed her, 'Urban Zen' collection in a beautiful garden on top of her New York Greenwich store. Although the affair was only open to the press and media still, the major twist in the event was that the collection was already available and being sold in her stores currently.
The pieces are beautifully relaxed and slouchy - yet it's evident that Karan's signature urban feminine flair is still present. All in neutral tones, the charcoal greys and soft black only furthered the appeal for one's need to relax and feel, "zen" in this clothing.
Stunning.
What do you think of the collection? Do you think this will be the beginning of the fashion industry's change in the fashion cycle?
Warmest wishes,
