Oh, "LA, LA"
Tuesday, May 4th 2010

Not too long ago, I shared my love of scarves with all of you – more specifically the TDM designs from Nepal. They are gorgeous enough to make a girl swoon for them. After having proclaimed my love for this brand, it was brought to my attention that the designer and created of this brand, Michelle Baldwin, was at it again – this time with another company, “La La B Jewelry”. My ears perked instantly.
After having chatted with Michelle herself about her collection (who, by the way, couldn’t get any more lovely!) it became clear that this line was a labour of love.
As with her scarves, the inspiration for these one of a kind pieces of jewellery were derived from Nepal – coming from the colours of things like flowers, flags, water, and rice patties. “The colours are so vibrant – I’ve never seen greens, blues, and corals like this before.” Michelle gushed.
Michelle also told me that each piece was created by the women in Nepal – a huge and wonderful thing to contribute to their community as the value and worth of women there is lower than a goat. A tragedy that is hard to believe still takes place in this day and age. However, because of Michelle’s company and their contributions, the women there are finally being treated equally, if not better! The men are now coming to see their wives at work and bringing them lunch at the same time! They have earned the respect of their families and community, and their confidence has risen greatly as a result.
It gives me shivers of happiness to hear that.

After having gone through her A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. assortment of jewellery on her website – http://www.lalabjewelry.com (trust me when I say – you need to check it out). It was clear that this line was something women needed to know about. The collection has some jaw dropping statement pieces that I’m dreaming about ending up in my wardrobe. The pieces themselves are elegant, feminine, edgy, and also create a vintage vibe. Perfect for a large array of personality types, and the many different moods we all go through! Not only this, but these pieces are something that will certainly help you transition from day to evening – giving you the ‘best bang for your buck’ (while adding a lot of value to your wardrobe)!
One of the most noticeable qualities of the jewellery was the fact that despite the statement pieces sizes, they weren’t over the top as can be an annoyance with other collections. “I’m a working mom, so I really wanted the designs to be simple, elegant, and comfortable. More elaborate pieces can get in the way and snag on something.” Who can’t relate when you schedule leads you everywhere, and you have kids to look after also?

Some favourites of mine in her collection? The Abbie Mesh Sterling/Amythest ring (actually, all of the rings are gorgeous), the steriling silver mesh bracelet (a stunner and a must see!), and the silver wire bracelet.
All of the pieces at amazing prices – making the temptation even worse.
*Le sigh* Stunning.
