Ramona Keveza Collection
Christie and I had planned on seeing a screening of the Anna Wintour docu-drama aptly titled The September Issue. Because of our passes, we were able to bypass the fifteen-dollar admittance fee and see the movie about the ins and outs of the glamorous, yet pressure filled offices of Vogue Magazine. The screening was supposed to run at 9:30, and to our surprise, the film was pushed back in order to have one final show squeezed in between. This would be the illuminating, romance driven show that was the Ramona Keveza Collection. Being a bridal designer, Ramona Keveza is known for her modern yet whimsically romantic designs. This year`s showing was no different.

Stephanie and I both agree – this year’s Ramona Keveza show blew our minds; literally. It was every woman’s dream come true. All senses were called upon and heightened during the show. To set the mood and atmosphere for the show – it began with an old black and white film splashed on the wall. Here, the audience found two lovers begging and pleading for each other’s love. Each character professed how drawn to one another they were – how much they couldn’t live without one another. As the clip fades to black, Ill Divo blares over the speakers and the bright lights pop on to lure the audience into the first of many jaw dropping gowns.
The dresses were both streamlined with a twist- slight mermaid cut mixed with structure. This juxtaposed her final dress which was a soft pink champagne swan inspired ball gown. Almost all the models wore a headpiece. Be it a glitter and jewel adorned veil that draped farther than the train itself, a feather topped pillbox cap, or my personal favourite: The blink and you miss it tiara headband. Imagine an uber thin, soft ribbon gracing just the top of the hairline with a tiny diamond or two.
Stunning.
Aside from the bridal dresses itself, she showcased actual modern day bridesmaids dresses. Shy chicks beware. Ramona profiled her models in high impact colours. Reds, blues and onyx blacks were seen in many different styles. Of course, standard whites and champagnes illuminated the runway. I think Christie and I both agree our favourite was the Grecian inspired yellow-green dress that just begged for attention from the crowd. Floor length with a satin sheen, this dress was captivating. One shoulder exposed with heavy side draping, this was the ‘It Girl’ pick.

Not only were the gowns adorned with precious gems embedded in the designs, but the fabrics of the gowns where something to really drink in. Beautiful taffeta’s and silks glided their way down the runway – looking so fluid and liquid – making everyone sigh over the beauty of the gowns as they came to life on the runways. The models themselves all had their hair pulled tightly into buns and decorated with beautiful head pieces made from Swarovski crystal and beads. The makeup was soft and smoky. Each dress was decorated with a bold bracelet in sparkling crystals that could easily transition itself into multiple outfits. Stephanie and I cooed over the glamour. The tone set for the evening was one that pulled on the heart strings of everyone woman that’s dreamed of her wedding since she was a little girl.
Aside from the breathtaking clothing itself, what made this show be such a standout was the superb lighting and musical score. The art direction was completely in tune. The idea with any show is to create an atmosphere to literally draw the crowd in, and have them understand the exact vision from the first cue, to the `fade to black. ` This show succeeded in it completely. The lighting was soft to enhance the colour palate. The angles of the spotlights hit the dresses exactly where the details were.
Now, to the music.
Both Christie and I agree the music to this show was beyond powerful. Ramona Keveza chose musical pieces that tugged on the heartstrings of every single seat in the tent. Choices such as Andrea Bocelli and Celine Dion`s ``Prayer`` infused gasps and actual emotion from the crowd. Ill Divo`s impeccable cover of Nights in White Satin made the hair on my neck stand up. The entire presentation was commanding, breathtaking, and sent shivers of emotion through every pore.

Christie and I both agree that this was our favourite show we had seen. It was almost urethral- each and every person could image what Ramona Keveza successfully emulated.
Despite the genius of the designs that Ramona had created, and the reactions that she had clearly evoked from the crow; (as Stephanie and I were both teary eyed by the end of the production) it was humbling and wonderful to see the surprise on Ramona’s face as she stepped out onto the runway. Everyone rose from their seats in a unanimous and well deserved applause for the designer, who was teary eyed herself as she walked the runway – waving and thanking everyone with the utmost grace and appreciation.
This show was something magical to remember. Stephanie and I talked about it the entire way back to our hotel that night – and for the rest of the evening. The show was one of brilliance and magic that will have everyone dreaming, gasping, and talking about for some time to come.
Warmest wishes,
