Golden Globes - hits and misses

Monday, January 18th 2010

The Golden Globes were aired last night and I, like many love watching them. I don't really care about who wins, but I'm SO excited to see what the women will be wearing (sorry men, but you're only in a tux - not much excitement to be had).

This year, I have to admit, I was a little disappointed over the selections that were chosen for the stars. There were definitely some that hit the mark bang on - but for most part, I really felt there everyone else was just, "okay".

Here are some of my favorites of the night:

First off, Kate Hudson was stunning in Marcesca. The fit of the dress complimented her beautifully - she was a sight to see. Zoe Saldana, who wore Louis Vuitton was still a favorite of mine, regardless of the fact that her gown had a lot going on. I would have preferred to see her with accessories, that were a metallic and not mauve like her dress - but she was still glowing yesterday evening. Jennifer Garner was breathtaking in the Versace gown. In my opinion, she was by far, the best dressed of the night. And last but not least, Toni Collette, was wearing Elie Saab last night and looked so elegant. The colours really complimented her skin tone, and the dress looks like it was made for her.

As for the misfits above - who knows what the hell their stylist was thinking (or maybe it's time to hire one?) The print on Tina Fey's dress is awful, while the cut is nice for her - the print is hard to get by. As for Mariah Carey, her girls look like they're ready to put on their own show (not that we're surprised - how often is Mariah considered an elegant dresser?). Chloe Sevigny bordered on "ok" last night, but her dress just has way to many ruffles in all of the wrong places. The neckline is horrible on her, and the colour even worse. Normally I'm a fan of Diane Kruger and Christian Lacroix, but this fuchsia dress is awful. It's like a bad train wreck you can't stop looking at.

What do you think of the above candidates?

I know the cuts, quality, and time put into the gowns/looks are endless, but one would hope that for such an event, messes like these wouldn't happen - especially when standing against such other big hits of the night.

Warmest wishes,
