While I am all for fashion and the beautiful trends that come with it - one trend that I cannot get behind is the re-emerging fur trend. While I can appreciate the hard work and dedication that goes behind a beautiful fur jacket, vest, and so on (and I do have to admit - the results are beautiful) - I'm also an avid animal lover.

I'm finding myself caught in a space not knowing what to think about the industry's choice of trend - especially when organizations such a PETA having been educating the public on how cruel such behavior is and I have recently turned vegetarian after reading Johnathan Safran Foer's
"Eating Animals" - a book everyone should read the facts for.

In an industry that is making huge strides toward the "green" movement, why is it that they fall short and ignore other issues that have also been around just as long? I find it humorous when topics such as these might be a source of debate for a day or two, and then afterward, it seems as though everyone in the industry merely shrugs their shoulders and chalks it up too, "well that's the way it's always been". How is it okay that we collectively do this?

I really think that sometimes, the designers and consumer need to sit back and think, "Would I still wear the fur coat if I had to kill and skin the animal myself?". An obvious question that most people would probably answer, "no" too, but never the less - the visual and question are simply not thought of.

What do you think of the fur trend?
