Flowers in Bloom
Wednesday, July 7th 2010
Monday was the haute couture show from Christian Dior. Having seen it Monday morning, and literally dying over it - I knew I had to share with all of you the stunning collection.
Dior is always know for whimsical and over the top collections with stunning backdrops that only add to the atmosphere and inspiration of the collection. Everything devoured in the most stunning splashes of colour. This Fall/Winter collection was no different and delivered brilliantly.
When reading about the collection, what I have to say I loved the most was the fact that Galliano drew his inspiration from flowers - something much more upbeat and colourful compared to many other collections for fall. I think it's much needed as the winter and fall collections often loose luster with the lack of colour that is often left out with winter collections. The makeup for Dior was done in geometric blocks across the models eyes in the most intense and bright colours - reminiscent of flowers. The hair, stacked in high pointed buns, was genius - as it was to represent a flower just before it blooms.
The entire collection was feminine, floral, whimsical, powerful and fiery. It was all about "Flower Power". Each skirt, blouse and gown that floated down the runway was cut like the ends of various flowers - giving the piece both a softness and edge.
To top the show off - Galliano had created four of the most jaw dropping gowns. It was the perfect touch to a divine show.
Warmest wishes,
