Tis the season for resort collections - they are everywhere. I absolutely love them as the most gorgeous splashes of colour appear in pieces. You're almost fooled in thinking that the fashion cycle is in harmony with the seasons and the consumers needs for just a moment.

A particular resort collection favorite of mine was Akris. Here, Albert Kriemler looked to the past for areas of inspiration. WWD reports that he, "looks to Capri and the style of Brigitte Bardot’s character in Jean-Luc Godard’s 1963 film “Le Mépris” for inspiration this season." It certainly shows. Beautiful prints and colours are scattered throughout the collection - making one daydream of an island getaway if they aren't already on one. Yet, the Akris signature of tailored pieces is clearly evident. What I particularly enjoy is the fact that minimalism trend has also weaved itself into the collection - ensuring that these elegant but classic pieces will surely give you mileage in your wardrobe.

Elegant, summery, with a hint of vintage. How could you go wrong?
What do you think?

Warmest wishes,
