Statement Jewellery

Accessories – they are a delicious way to ensure that the clothing hanging in your closet can be worn multiple ways and styles, all while creating various moods. I have quite an obsession with accessories to be honest; I just never seem to get enough of them – there are so many fun pieces to play with!
The biggest trend that has taken place with accessories recently is ‘statement jewellery’. Necklaces, earrings, bracelets, and rings have become super sized in order to make more of a statement with your attire (hence the name).
Yet, many of my clients are unsure of how to wear statement jewellery. Here are 3 things to consider when reaching for the stunning pieces you’ve purchased for yourself:
1) Be careful of “accessory overload”. Because these pieces are so large, if you have too many on at once, the eye won’t know what to look at, killing your fabulous attire.
2) When wearing statement pieces, make sure you wear no more than two or three pieces at a time. Otherwise you’ll end up with the problem mentioned previously.
3) Space is key. If you are wearing a statement necklace, skip the earrings. If you wore two big earrings in addition to a big necklace, you face is going to be weighed down by your jewellery. Not only this, but it will look like your face is about to be swallowed by what you’re wearing. Instead, wear a chunky bracelet with the necklace and maybe a cocktail ring to compliment. This way you’re body won’t look crowded.
Keep these tips in mind when reaching for your fabulous accessories and above all have fun playing with different looks!
